This amazing 13 loth silver Pastille box is German made, circa 1760. Used by 18th and 19th century gentlemen and fops to hold peppermint pastilles in their boxes. The box was contoured to the hand and opened with side pressure. This box is shaped like a clam with embossed lines and hand carved etching. On the top is a free form shape that may have functioned as a cartouche. A great gift for a peppermint lover or collector and can be used to hold any number of small objects including pills.
