This wonderful sterling silver mid-century cow creamer was made in Germany and retailed in America. The piece was sold at J. Freeman & Son Mfg., which was a fine silver establishment on W. 53rd St. in Manhattan that produced replicas of interesting 19th century novelty sterling items. The creamer is in the shape of a realistic cow. It has horns, a tail, ears that stick out, and realistically chased eyes and hair. There is a section on the back that flips open, where one can pour cream into the piece. The cream is then poured out into coffee through a hole in the cow's mouth. A picture of a bee or similar insect is engraved on the flip-top. There is a small finial to use as a handle to flip open the top. The cow stands on four realistic feet. This delightful sterling cow creamer would make an excellent addition to any coffee service or collection.
